Research Interests
I have a broad range of interests in the application of information and communication technologies (e-Health) to solving health service delivery problems. I emphasise the importance of developing robust theoretical work to support the applied nature of much of this discipline. Working with my colleagues I am currently exploring topics in patient safety informatics, consumer e-health, translational bioinformatics, evidence-based decision support, text summarisation methods to support scientific discovery and I have a long standing interest in clinical communication. I have a growing interest in understanding the systemic nature of the problems faced in healthcare, and their formal analysis. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new 'implementation' science..
