Research Programs
We conduct research and development in the following areas:
Evidence-based Decision Support
Developing technologies to provide on-line access to clinically relevant information to support decision making by clinicians and consumers.
Translational Bioinformatics
Exploration and analysis of bioinformatic data and its translation into the clinical domain
Biomedical Text Processing
Developing natural language processing techniques that deliver relevant and timely information to clinicians, researchers and consumers
Imaging Informatics
Computer-aided medical image analysis and diagnosis.
Public Health Biosurveillance
Public health-based biosurveillance
Clinical Systems Safety Engineering
Building models of human error & system failure to support design of interventions to reduce IT related clinical error.
Clinical Communications
Understanding how communication fundamentally supports the process of health care delivery, and how new technologies can be used to improve communication.
Health System Simulation
The application of modelling and computer simulation methods to explore, understand and improve the interaction between structure and action in health care and policy
Innovative approaches to Outbreak Detection and Control
Current biothreat surveillance systems are vulnerable to incomplete and delayed reporting, and recent outbreaks are characterised by slow recognition or response.
Patient Safety Program
Investigating what goes wrong in healthcare, how and why.
