Dr Blanca Gallego Luxan

Dr Blanca Gallego Luxan has extensive research experience in various areas of applied sciences and applied mathematics. She obtained a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) after which she worked as a postdoctoral fellow with the Integrated Sustainability Analysis group at the University of Sydney. During this time, Blanca developed quantitative solutions for different aspects of sustainability and climate variability such as ecological footprint analysis, corporate sustainability reporting and detection of air pollution. In 2006 Blanca joined the Centre for Health Informatics and is working in the research and development of a state-of-the-art public health bio-surveillance model for the monitoring, risk assessment and response to outbreaks of communicable diseases.
